Description

A 70s female who was undergoing rehabilitation for knee osteoarthritis complained of unwellness and required emergency help. When the emergency crew arrived, she showed hypotension (64/39 mmHg) and bradycardia (32 beats/minute), and was transported to our hospital. At initial presentation, she showed persistent bradycardia, p-wave disappearance on electrocardiography, and hyperkalemia in a blood test (8.7 mEq/L). Under the diagnosis of bradycardia associated with hyperkalemia, hemodialysis and temporary pacemaker implantation were performed. We found that before the onset of hypotension and hyperkalemia, she ingested 3 times the usual amount of green juice for 2 weeks, which may have caused her hyperkalemia.
