Description

The SBAS is one of GPS augmentation systems improving accuracy and integrity for aviation use. Recently the next-generation SBAS (NG-SBAS) using multi-frequency signals has been discussed and it is necessary to clarify which navigation message is suitable for NG-SBAS, legacy message on GPS L1 (LNAV) or new one on L5 signal (CNAV). The authors evaluated the performance of these messages and found no significant difference in accuracy with consideration of the error correction made by the SBAS. Additionally, employing CNAV makes it costful to use the GPS-L5Q precision signal. As a result, we conclude LNAV is better choice for NG-SBAS.
