<p>Magnesium oxide tablets, which rapidly disintegrate, extend disintegration time upon moisture absorption. One of the reasons is thought that magnesium oxide causes the solid bridges between powder particles by moisture absorption. Tablets of pure magnesium oxide without additives changed tablet surface structure by moisture absorption. Although magnesium oxide tablets sold in clinical markets include various additives, the surface structures of the tablets have not been reported. In this paper, we found some relief structures in tablet surface of Magmitt® tablets which are one of the magnesium oxide tablets. It was thought that the relief structures increase contact area with the water, and related with fast disintegration in Magmitt® tablets. However, we revealed that the relief structures of Magmitt® tablets did not change when the disintegration time of the tablets extended by moisture absorption.</p>
