As a continuation of a previous paper which explored the same problem by dealing with the to-phrases in the Peterborough Chronicle 1070-1121(Takuma, 1999), this paper aims to examine the meanings of the preposition to and survey the forms of its complements in the early Middle English. Examples are taken from annals 1122-1131 and 1132-1154 of the Peterborough Chronicle. The meanings of the preposition to will be discussed by classifying the examples into ten categories and eleven subcategories, and some notable tendencies which are not observed in annals 1070-1120 will be pointed out.
