Description

The inter-and intra-core crosstalks (XTs) between polarization modes in a few-mode multi-core fiber (FM-MCF) are complicated properties because high-order modes with the circularly asymmetric intensity propagate in a FM-MCF. In this paper, we theoretically evaluate the inter-core XT of the polarization between the LP01 and the LP11 modes core of FM-MCF taking the electric field distribution of the LP11 mode into account. Furthermore, we propose a technique for evaluating the linearly polarized mode XT between cores using the OTDR and our proposed analyzer and clarify the characteristics of the linearly polarized mode XT theoretically and experimentally.
