Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the thermal environment for historic buildings where materials and art exhibits are exhibited at the same time as they are open to the public. In this paper, we examined the thermal environment in the old Otagiri house and the old Maki house in Suzaka City, Nagano Prefecture, and are open to the public and exhibited, while the building is preserved and used. A small temperature and humidity logger was used to measure the thermal environment, and temperature and relative humidity were measured. The measurement period was from July 2017 to November 2018. As a result of the survey, it was clarified that the temperature was slightly low in the autumn, that appropriate heating was expected because it was very low throughout the day in winter, and that heat protection measures were desired during the day because it became high temperature during the day. It became clear that measures were needed to ensure proper temperature control, especially in winter, as a storage environment for art works and other products.
