Description

To date, studies on peer evaluation have been conducted on a specific subject. It cannot be denied that the impression of the faculty member or the participants, the explanation of peer evaluation on the topic, the implementation method of peer evaluation, and how the results are handled may influence the research results. Therefore, we administered questionnaire surveys on peer evaluation for students who were engaged in the practice 31 times in 18 topics over 4 years and analyzed their impressions and attitudes toward peer evaluation. A questionnaire was distributed to 195 fourth-year students in 2019, and 180 (92%) provided valid responses. Results suggest that students fully understand the usefulness of peer evaluation and highly value the existence of evaluation from the perspective of students as well as teachers and of feedback in peer evaluation, while they were also worried about the influence of grades and the fact that evaluation criteria may fluctuate. Results also suggest that the students sense an increasing relevance of peer evaluation and strictly positioning themselves as evaluators.
