Abstract

Due to neuropsychological symptoms, it becomes difficult to perceive and recognize various aspects that confer esthetic effects to visual arts. For example, patients with visual variants of Alzheimer's disease cannot appreciate the relief art because they cannot perceive the subjective contour. Because they also cannot recognize the shape created by the difference in texture, they cannot appreciate the pointillism painting. Patients with injuries of in the caudal part of the intraparietal sulcus have impairment in both the depth direction sensation of the actual surface and the depth direction sensation created by the texture gradient. Therefore, it becomes difficult for patients to appreciate the Japanese rock garden. The various events introduced in this manuscript reveal that visual arts are established by various ingenuity brought by the work of our brain.
