Abstract
A full-featured 8K live-program-production system with video format which has high dynamic range (HDR) with Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG), wide color gamut, and 120-Hz high frame rate for next-generation 4K/8K program production has been constructed. To realize this system, we have developed indispensable 8K/120-Hz elemental production systems which have a live program production switcher, a character superimposer, and a frame synchronizer. These elemental systems were connected with Ultrahigh Definition Signal/Data Interface (U-SDI) which could transmit video data at the rate of 144 Gbps consistently from cameras to a display. Using the production system, we could achieve the world’s first successful test to demonstrate a live program production with a full-featured 8K video format. From the experimental result, we proved that the full-featured 8K live program production could be carried out, and confirmed that the system was effective for next-generation 8K broadcast production.
