Abstract

<p> On March 11, 2011, the 2011 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku Earthquake occurred and strong motion records were obtained on the D-Runway of Haneda Airport. The behavior of the D-Runway during the earthquake was investigated using the observation records and the validity of its seismic design was verified. FLIP simulation was performed using the model and parameters used for the design of the connecting structure between the landfill and pier sections by inputting the observed ground acceleration. As a result, the response of the landfill and the pier simulated by FLIP were in good agreement with the observed records. Regarding the connection structure, although the lateral displacement obtained by FLIP exceeded the observed value, it was confirmed that the seismic design using FLIP resulted in a conservative design.</p>
