The purpose of this research is to clarify the mental health state of pupils by using objective measures of Uchida-Kraeplin Diagnostic Test; the amount of work and the New-PF score (Noda, 1998) which evaluates the deviation from the "Typical Normal Curve" defined by Uchida (1937). The subjects, who were randomly selected from all the four primary schools and all the two secondary schools in a district, were 254 of the 5th grade, 267 of the 7th grade, 270 of the 8th grade and 287 of the 9th grade. Before the analysis by the objective measures, the results of intuitive rating were analyzed. Main results were as follows : 1) the averages of the three grades of secondary school were approximately equal, and smaller than that of 5th grade of primary school. 2) the New-PF score was negatively correlated to the amount of work. (r=-0.38∿-0.46) 3) the New-PF score was correlated to the intuitive rating. (η=0.77∿0.56) This research showed that the change of mental health state of the pupils from 5th grade to 9th grade of primary and secondary schools were reflected on the increase of the amount of work and on the tendency of the curve toward the "Typical Normal Curve" curve as a whole but partly against it. As the New-PF score was found to be applicable not only to the pupils of the secondary school but also to the 5th grade pupils of the primary school, the criterion of the New-PF score which can differentiate the highly health state of mind from the normal or unhealthy state of mind needs to be made in near future.
