説明

After the 9.11 tragedy, the U. S. is constantly pursuing an aggressive campaign based on the threat of Weapons of Mass Destruction in the Middle East. This was the pretext for the U. S. invasion of Iraq, although this pretext itself was proved baseless. At this moment, the U. S. is taking a hostile attitude toward Iran on the belief that Iran is planning to develop nuclear weapons. This article investigates the historical aspects of the crisis related to Weapons of Mass Destruction in the main Arab countries and Israel and clarifies the present military imbalance between them. As a result it becomes clear that any WMD that may be possessed by Arab countries are quite insignificant, and the total conventional weapons possessed by them is only one forty-fifth of the destructive power of the 20 kilotons of nuclear bombs which are secretly possessed by Israel. It is obvious that the extremely aggressive attitude of Israel toward the Palestinians and the negative stance toward Peace Talks are based on such military superiority. However, it should be noted that this type of significant military imbalance together with the U. S. political attitude, characterized by a "double standard", is going to spread political friction from the Palestinian problem to that of whole Middle Eastern region.
