Detecting the damage to the foundations embedded in soil layers is rather difficult when compared with the detection of the damage to the superstructures. Therefore. this study develops a damage-detector device utilizing the piezoelectric materials for the detection. In this study, the effect of this device upon the structural member is verified by using Finite Element Technique, The results of the analyses show that the existence of the device in the structural member has little effect upon the strength and the ductility of the structural member.
