To train high-quality home economics teachers, a DVD on Home Nursing, a compulsory subject for teaching certificate, was produced. In addition, the DVD was used in a Home Nursing class, and student opinions were collected. The students’ opinions were analyzed from the viewpoint of the effect of the DVD. The students learned more about home nursing from watching the DVD than from reading a textbook. It is difficult for students to imagine the professional childcare of “home nursing” only by reading a textbook. Watching the DVD is useful to encourage students to gain knowledge on home nursing. On the other hand, as home nursing has a very wide-ranging and abundant content, a large amount of subject matter needs to be covered during classes. In order to give lectures within the limited class time, it is necessary to adjust the amount of content covered and devise ways to display and explain the DVD.
