Abstract
A tube dielectric waveguide with a diamond-shaped core is investigated taking advantage of complete confinement of light rays. The eigenmode field together with the leakage loss is evaluated by the imaginary-distance beam-propagation method based on Yee's mesh with an enhanced amplification factor. The full-vectorial approach reveals that the tube dielectric waveguide with the diamond-shaped core achieves extremely low loss compared with a tube dielectric waveguide with a square-shaped core.
