Abstract

The present study was carried out, first, to cralify the attrioutes of joggers ; secondly, to consider their behavioral intention, attitude and belief toward jogging. Especially, the present paper has been focused upon the former purpose. The latter issue was dealt with in the previous paper, "A Study on Behavioral Intention. Attitude and Belief as the Factors Predicting Sport Behavior (I) : Application of Fishbein's Model to Jogging". We investigated 109 male adult joggers who run more regularly than two days in a week, more than two kilometers in one day, and 95 male nonjoggers who are fathers of school children, 10 and 12 years old. The questionnaires were sent to both groups in April, 1979. The results are summarized as follows: 1 . As for the joggers, it can generally be said that their school career is higher, their income is bigger and most of them belong to the white-collar class in occupation. A large proportion of joggers played some kind of sport in the past and belonged to sport clubs. Comparing the joggers with the nonjoggers, the joggers' standing height and body weight are inferior to those of the nonjoggers ; however, there is no significant difference as to Rohrer's index. 2. The joggers evaluate their health and fitness as excellent. And, the number of somkers and those who get easily physical or mental sickness are significantly small among the joggers. 3. Jogging companions and spouse are regarded as the significant others for practicing jogging. 4. The joggers answered favorably toward various kind of variables adopted in Fishbein's model.
