Abstract

Murayama et al. (1983) reported the SEAS, a questionnaire which measures the extent of Self-Actualization. In this report, we tried to study the 10 categories of SEAS, by comparing with Yatabe-Guilford Personality Inventory (YG). Fourty-one students of a professional school accomplished these two tests. The correlations among the categories of SEAS and the factors of YG were calculated. And Cluster Analysis was applied to those data. Main results were as follows : (1) Half the factors of YG (D, C. I, N, O, Co) were significantly correlated with each other, and made one cluster in Cluster Analysis. Thus we could not clearly interpret the correlations among these 6 factors and SEAS's categories. (2) Three categories of SEAS, 'Achievement Orientedness', 'Genuineness', and 'Separatedness', were not correlated with any factors of YG. (3) 'Way of Positive Life' and 'Acceptance of Weakness' were found to be correlated with only the 6 factors discribed above. (4) 'Self-Acceptance' and 'Obessiveness' were correlated with General activity and Social extraversion of YG, and these categories also correlated with the 6 factors. (5) 'Self Assertion' made a cluster with the three factors of YG, Luck of aggreableness, Ascendance and Social extraversion. 'Integration of Bipolarity' correlated with Rhathymia of YG, also 'Self-Directedness' with General activity.
