This paper examines four points at issue concerned with the establishment of Elementary Education in Kurose area as an agricultural district :(1) the course of elementary education, (2) the elementary school attendance in the early twentieth century, (3) the relationship between elementary school and villagers, (4) what students going to do after graduation. In these examinations, it is obvious that the custom which most of the villagers put their children in school was firmly established in 1910-1920's, and the number of students who went on to a higher stage of education was rising from 1920-1930's onwards in an agricultural district of Kurose area.
