Description
Cristianization of the Roman Empire may be said to be originated by Emperor Constantinus, and completed by Emperor Theodosius, but the spiritual formation of the really Christian emperor Theodosius cannot be completed without the influence of Ambrosius, bishop of Milano, at the strongest stage of which was the case of Thessalonica massacre. Judging conditions before and after the case, we can realize his spiritual change that Theodosius, who had primarily made much of dignity of the empire, put piety to god as a premise of holding the empire after 390.
