Abstract

Saint-Simon, Fourier and Owen were almost contemporary socialist thinkers in France and Great Britain, and up to this time these three have been regarded as "Utopian socialists", and especially Fourier and Owen as "assosiationist socialists". But, when their ideas are examined, their shades of opinion lead us to another interpretation. Though they thought of the protection of laborers, the difference between Saint-Simon and Owen is great; in spite of the same plan of utopia, their attitude fowards the actual society was differet. On the other hand, the fellow countrymen, Saint-Simon and Fourier, have many points of similarity in their social thoughts. This article presents that their own ideas reflect in turn the fate of their countries and their status, that is to say, Saint-Simon, noble, Fourier, a shopman, and Owen, a factory owner.
