Description

In our country, the population of 65 years old or more is 17.4% of a total population in 2000. In addition, the population of people with disabilities is 6.02 million in 2001. Accordingly, the needs in the field of Assistive Technology for elderly people and disabled people are higher than before. Both of quantity and quality of professionals in the field of engineering for those people is requested. It is necessary to develop the education of Assistive Technology at the concerning universities. The articles which have been written up to now are analyzed and the direction of the future education of Assistive Technology is found. Here, the education focused on the concept of Disability Equality Training is attempted to the student of the Department of Welfare Systems Engineering. As a result, it is realized that the educational collaboration with the organizations concerning disability and disabled people in the community is important factor for development of effective education in this field.
