This paper examines the history and usage of the term“menhera”, which originated in the anonymous electronic bulletin board group“2channel”. The term“menhera” was originally used to describe people with mental problems who posted on the “mental health board” of “2channel”. However, the meaning of the word has been changing as people have become more aware of it. In the background of the use of the term“menhera”, it is thought that there is a way of perceiving the difficulty of living and mental problems that cannot be discussed using technical terms related to mental health. This may reveal the issues that “mental health professionals” need to face in the future.
