Abstract
GTA (Grounded Theory Approach) is effective in the requirement analysis and evaluation phases of the software developments. In GTA, the analyst have to discover many "concepts (nouns)" for the fragmented field data (sentences) and the collected fragment-groups. As the result, GTA requires much time. This paper claims that the inefficiency is caused by the straightforward application of the American-born GTA to Japanese. Because, there is a major difference between a subject-prominent language, English, and a topic-prominent language, Japanese. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a new GTA approach (J-GTA) based on Japanese grammar and culture. The proposed method has the following features: 1) The concept is expressed by a sort sentence having a verb. 2) The subject is extracted syntactically, and 3) "Property and Dimension" are replaced by the Japanese traditional patterns "MOKU-RI-HOU-KETSU(Purpose, Reason, Method, Result)". The proposed method has been experimentally applied into requirement analysis of an education supporting system.
