Description
Mom-and-Pop Store is defined as the small retailer that relies on family labor forces without any regular employee. The small retailer including Mom-and-Pop Store was regard as the burden to the then distribution industry because of that's too small, inefficient and low productivity, however, occupied a considerable position in Japanese commercial history in the postwar. This paper examines the feature and transition of Mom-and-Pop Stores referring to that's alternative and complementary relationship, competitive advantage and disadvantage by using "Census of Commerce".
