Abstract

看護理論は、看護学の基礎であると同時に専門職としての看護実践の基礎ともなるものである。看護理論の定義はさまざまであるが、看護に対する見方や考え方を体系的に理論付けたものであるといえる。わが国の病院では、看護理論の導入が増えているものの、まだ「理論は苦手」や「理論がなくても看護はできる」などの認識をもつ看護職者も多い現状である。しかし、看護は実践科学であるならば、どのような看護状況にあっても、看護専門職者として高質の看護ケアを提供できなければならない。そのために看護理論は必要不可欠なのである。本稿では、重要な看護理論の歴史的変遷をたどり現在の状況に検討を加え今後の展望を述べるものである。

Nursing theory provides the foundation for not only the nursing science, but also the professional nursing practice. Though its definition may vary, nursing theory is acknowledged as a systematic theorization of views and concepts on nursing care. In Japan, more hospitals are now introducing the nursing theories in their practical nursing care, while many nursing professionals still find nursing theory somewhat trying and unnecessary. When nursing is part of applied science, nursing professionals should be able to provide high quality care under any circumstances. For this reason, nursing theory is essential to nursing practice. Understanding the importance of nursing theory, this paper traces the history of nursing of nursing theory, examines the present state, and illustrates its perspectives.
