Description
The Sanae YAMADA Collection is the only database that the principal particulars and the movements of the all Japanese merchant ships bigger than 500 gross tonnages constructed between the beginning of the Meiji era and the end of the World War II are recorded. The collection has been donated to the Maritime Museum of Kobe University in 2004 by Dr. Sanae YAMADA who compiled the database alone. The great works has been taken over than 50 years. In this paper, a history of modern Japanese merchant ships is analyzed focusing upon the principal particulars of ships and propulsion performance.
