Abstract

The European Court of Human Rights (Grand Chamber) Judgment of 21 January 2021 on the Georgia v. Russia II has been widely criticized but rather indicative of the long-discussed issue on the relationship between the European Convention on Human Rights and the Law of Armed Conflict, as well as the former's applicability in an International Armed Conflict. This paper firstly introduces the core part of the Judgment, then analyses its significance and relates it to the thick case law of the Court on the issue.
