Description

The present report deals with the conditions of adaptivity of the fresh water Medaka to sea water. 1. When the fresh water Medaka was immersed into 5/5 or 4/5 sea water, most of them failed to survive. In 3/5 or 1/2 sea water, most of them could survive for two weeks. 2. After being pretreated for 2, 4, 6, 8, 12, 24, of 48 hours in 3/5 sea water, the medaka was transferred into normal sea water. Most of them could not survive in sea water until they were pretreated more than 24 hours in 3/5 water. 3. Form these experiments, it seems to be necessary for the Medaka to live in sea water from fresh water that they are exposed to about 3/5 sea water for 24 hours or more.
