Description

This paper describes a technique for projecting images onto the surface of a real object to give it a new appearance. In particular, this paper introduces dynamic projection mapping, which realizes such a projection in a dynamically changing environment. First, we present the unique technologies required for dynamic projection mapping, including high-speed projectors, high-speed variable focusing, and multiple-projectors control. In addition, we describe how the fusion of projection and real entities opens up a new visual world in perception, with specific examples of mapping to humans, material-appearance manipulation, color manipulation, etc.
