本研究は,数学学習での「文字」の習熟の実態について,中学生・高校生・大学生を対象として,予備調査を行った。予備調査の調査結果の部分的な分析から中学生・高校生の文字に対する未成熟なイメージの実態を明らかにするとともに,それらの結果から 仮説(I):生徒は,文字の表す「数」を固定的に捉えている 仮説(II):生徒は,文字のイメージを自然数的に捉えているの2つの仮説が導出できたことを報告する。|Studying of mathematical symbols, which are used to present numbers, starts from the first grader of junior high school, and students have learned and experienced many and various uses of it. Though, not a few of senior high school students have misconceptions or immature images of it. As example, they meet mathematical symbol ”a”, believe that symbol ”a” is a natural number, or symbol ”-a” is a negative number. As our theme, authors took up ”What images of mathematical symbols do students have ?”. and to search for it, we executed preliminary investigation problem A-B to students in junior and senior high school and in university. As our results, we get two hypotheses (I) Students understand that mathematical symbol presents only a few numbers (II) Students have their image of mathematical symbol as a natural number.
