本論は、アメリカ人女性作家Laura Ingalls Wilder作の『大きな森の小さな家』および『大草原の小さな家』から、子育て、親子関係、家族関係などに関わる描写を抜き出し、検討を加えたものである。これらの物語は、19世紀のアメリカ開拓時代を舞台としているが、そこで描かれる、子育て、親子関係、家族関係などは、普遍的なものであることがわかった。

In this essay, the author picks up and explores the descriptions on child-nurturing, parenthood and family in Little House in the Big Woods and Little House on the Prairie by an American female writer Laura Ingalls Wilder. Although these two tales are set on 19^<th> century American frontier days, the author has found that the depictions of child-nurturing, parenthood and family are equally apply to the present days.
