Despite a certain number of international students returning to their home countries after finishing their studies in Japan, there have been few studies on their jobs and lives after leaving Japan, except some case-studies based on limited data. The survey and research on former international students have mainly focused on their working situation in Japan. This article focuses on their jobs after leaving Japan. Based on the questionnaire survey on the internet “Jobs and lives of Vietnamese former international students who had studied in Japan” conducted by the author in 2017, it analyzes their current incomes. Respondents tend to earn higher incomes than their counterpart, college graduates in Vietnam and employees who are working at Japanese companies in Vietnam. The result implies that the current working conditions have effects on the incomes, but the effects of some variables relating to educational attainments and their majors in Japan were not statistically significant, though bachelor’s degree has a slight effect on incomes. Most of the respondents are living in Ho Chi Minh City.
