Abstract
<p> To clarify the shear resistance mechanism of RC members strengthened with post-installed shear reinforcing bars (PHBs), numerical analyses using a three-dimensional rigid-body-spring-model were conducted focusing on four structural conditions. First, it was shown that the shear strengthening effect increases by shortening the space between the PHBs in the width direction. Second, on the case using PHBs, the size effect due to the difference in cross-sectional height is similar to that of the case using closed stirrups. Third, the effects on internal crack patterns and shear capacity is similar even when the shear span ratio a/d is changed and the failure mode is different. Finally, it was shown that under the condition that the width direction is uniformly constrained such as plane members, in both cases using PHBs and closed stirrups, arch action and truss action increase and the shear capacity increases more than that of beam members. This study is based on the condition of shear span ratio of 2.86, and it is confirmed that the trend is similar in the range of 1.71~4.00.</p>
