Abstract
<p>Road space has been utilized for the purpose of revitalizing the urban central area by attracting the lively activities of pedestrians recently. A social experiment has been conducted for consideration of the transformation of the existing road space under the above purpose in Midosuji Boulevard, the Namba, Osaka. For the purpose of examining the effective way of utilization of road space, this study evaluated the actual situation of how road space is used by focusing on pedestrian traffic behavior and staying behavior based on a video observation survey of the section of Midosuji Boulevard where the social experiment was conducted.</p>
