The purpose of this study is to clarify how new working adults perceive society and to determine whether there are differences in the way they perceive society according to the self-evaluation of their ability utilization at work. We asked 645 new working adults who had graduated from university or graduate school about their views of society and their self-evaluation of using abilities at work. Compared to the results of previous studies with college students, we found that new working adults view society in an economic sense, such as "making money," and in a positive sense, such as "having fun. In relative terms, we found that working adults who felt they could make a difference had a more positive view of society than new working adults who thought they could not make a difference. Previous studies have pointed out that young people are subjected to corporate society's order and dominant values as they transition from school to work. The results of this survey also partially confirm this. However, new working adults who felt that their abilities were unlikely to be utilized in the workplace also viewed society from the perspective of active self-transformation, such as "experience" and "study. These results also suggest that young people may not be one-sidedly obedient to corporate society's order and dominant values.
