Abstract

<p>  Objective : This study investigated the association between basic psychological needs, interpersonal relationships, participation in social activities, and social activities-related daily life satisfaction among older adults. </p><p>  Methods : Self-administered questionnaires were distributed among older adults (aged ≥65 years) who do not require nursing care and support to participate in age-related care prevention group activities. The questionnaires included items regarding the abovementioned factors. Multiple regression analysis was used for data analysis. </p><p>  Results : A total of 468 questionnaires were collected, of which, 441 were valid responses. The sample comprised 399 women. Social activities-related daily life satisfaction was significantly associated with the need for relatedness and competence; interaction with friends, neighbors, and family; neighborhood association and volunteer activities; and self-enlightenment. </p><p>  Discussion : Relatedness and competence needs are important for social activities-related daily life satisfaction. Notably, activities that foster the development of a safe community life, a sense of contribution, and self-growth are also important.</p>
