Description

Lighting has been an important part in today’s 3D animation making, with different elements including light strength, lighting direction, shade and shadow. Among all these factors, color is a necessary part worthy to be considered more. Based on the existed research, color can influence people’s emotion in both subjective and objective ways, which will be a valuable potential used in animation for more profoundly emotional depiction in works as well as more precisely emotional guidance for audience. However, the lack of scientific research, especially on the application of 3D animation, is the problem. Therefore, this thesis is aimed to detect the influence of color of lighting in 3D animations on audience’s emotions with the comparative experiment in psychological method. Each subject will be asked to watch 3 short 3D animation videos with only the colors of ambient lighting different and fill the questionnaire containing changes of moods after each watching times.
