Description

The purpose of this study is to develop the equipment for recovering cullet from end-of-life hinge doors of vehicles and overcome problems hindering device development. The glass recycling capability of companies that perform shredding and similar services must be improved to enhance the quality of vehicle recycling. Previous studies have shown that in the past, broken glass from vehicles has been manually recovered. The equipment developed in this study consists of a hood covering a hinged door, an air cylinder crushing tool, a hopper to receive cullet, and a collection box. Test results indicate that the following problems must be resolved.(1)Glass scattering must be prevented;(2)glass must be crushed in one operation; and(3)the contact between the operator and crushing tool must be precluded. The solutions to these problems are as follows.(1)Build a hood to cover the door;(2)install a holder to prevent the door from swinging(movement); and(3)install the crushing tool inside the hood.
