Abstract
<p>This study aims to propose an evaluation method for punching shear capacity of the rockfall protection retaining walls made of the plain concrete. In this study, the wall specimens were subjected to impact load varying impact energy and height of the specimens. The results obtained from this study were as follows: (1) the punching shear failure occurred in the rockfall protection retaining walls when the large impact energy was input; (2) the crack patterns were similar irrespective of height of the specimens; and (3) a new equation for predicting the punching shear capacity of the rockfall protection retaining walls was proposed.</p>
