説明
As part of a series of studies on influence of operations on the body and nutritional control there of utilization of sorbitol was investigated with rabbits through administration of sorbitol and synthesized amino acid mixed solution. The following results were obtained. 1. The Blood surgar level was raised in proportion to the increase of volume of sorbitol injected. It was not, however, significant when sorbitol was administered per os. In both cases the maximum blood sugar levels were lower than in cases of glucose administration. A definite time was required to reach the maximum blood sugar level after sorbitol injection. 2. It was found that sorbitol injected at a rate of 3g/kg-body-weight produced a higher utilization in the body than in case of 5g/kg-body-weight each of which was injected at a speed of 500mg/min/kg-body-weight (50% sorbitol 1 mℓ). 3. When sorbitol solutions of various concentrations containing fixed amounts of amino acids were injected intravenously, the amount of sorbitol excreted in urine was influenced considerably by injection speed. It was, however, found that the degree of utilization of the sorbitol in the body increased until the amounts injected were increased to 4g/kg-body-weight, although the amount of sorbitol excreted in urine was augmented. In contrast, the degree of utilization showed a decrease when administered at a rate of 5g/kg-body-weight. 4. It was shown that the amount of nitrogen excreted in urine showed a larger drop in the case of Amino acid-Sorbitol injection than in case of amino acid alone. From the results described above, it may be said that sorbitol is a useful base form infusion solution because sorbitol is utilized as an energy source, and may, at times be superior to glucose in that it has amino acid retaining action.
