Research on Wang Jinghong, the principal imperial envoy who accompanied Zheng He on his voyages to the Western Oceans, has drawn increased attention in Fujian's regional research community. Nonetheless, there remain many doubtful points in "Wang Jinghong in Fujian" as a topic of research. As such, this research group carried out anthropological investigations in Zhangzhou and Quanzhou. With the findings from these investigations, this article sheds light on Wang Jinghong's birthplace, travels, sacrifices and temple issues, and evaluates his historical status.
