Abstract

Since the establishment of new China in October. 1949. it was a long and suffering progress, over half a century, for the country to become at last a powerful nation. In 2002 it received I ong-desired admission to WTO. In 2003 it succeeded in the manned space flight, while it was authorized for earnestly-wished 2008 year Olympics to be held in Beijing. We the Japanese people, hoping for China to be a member of the advanced countries as early as possible, do not therefore grudge due felicitation on Chinese successes. It was our thought that both countries should cooperate in promoting peace and order as well as economic development in the world. However, in recent reality, delicately ill feeling seems to be often found on each side. In particular, on the side of China growth of abnormal anti-Japan sentiment is observed lately. It is admitted that Japan caused war-time damages to China and the post-war settlement thereof was in a way inapt leaving a trail of adverse feeling to Japan Under the circumstances, we think timely studies should be made now into the reasons why such anti-Japan sentiment is recently growing so high in China.
