Abstract

Arytenoid dislocation is one of the causes of unilateral vocal fold movement disorder, but its diagnosis is difficult. At our institution we diagnose based on laryngeal fiber findings and three-dimensional computed tomography (3DCT) during inspiration and phonation. Even in cases of suspected arytenoid dislocation with laryngeal fibers, there are actually very few arytenoid dislocation cases. For this report we collected literature on past arytenoid dislocation cases and examined whether the diagnosis of arytenoid dislocation is appropriate from laryngeal fiber findings or CT findings in the literature. Many cases could not be judged based on the information provided in the literature, but when considered based on the latest findings, many of the suspected arytenoid dislocation cases may have actually been vocal fold paralysis.
