<p>In recent years, Water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) has been overgrowing all over the world, adversely affecting lake ecosystems and the people living in the vicinity. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effective use of water hyacinth for fuel and soil amendment application through life cycle assessment. System boundaries were defined as raw material procurement, transportation, biochar making, and fuel and soil amendment applications. The functional unit was defined as per kilogram of water hyacinth. The results suggested that the use of soil amendments was an effective way to utilize water hyacinth.</p>
