Abstract

After flood in Thailand in 2011, it was found that detecting which economic sectors are forced to stop their production in which country is significantly important in flood supply chain impact. However, the previous loss calculation methods of using “GDP spatial distribution map” by population map couldn’t detect which sectors are affected. In this study, the new GDP map considering sectoral spatial distribution was made by newly available high-resolution land use dataset. And then, the estimations of economic loss and sectoral loss ratio in the Thailand flood by the new GDP map and two hazard datasets were calculated and compared to the results by the previous map and reported values. As a result, the new map showed the difference of sectoral loss ratio by different spatial distribution of hazards and the results of sectoral ratio, which was closer to reported values than the ones by the previous map.
