Abstract

<p>Four lysimeter have been established in a forest for measurement of snowmelt water to understand the effects of transboundary air pollution and snowmelt on water quality in Hokuriku district. They are two plot in the forest, a A0-layer plot and an open area plot. The lysimeter consists of tipping bucket for measurement of water amount and a tank for measurement of water quality. Preliminary observations showed that the four lysimeters generated different patterns of snowmelt and an estimated total load of Nitrogen of snowmelt water was almost twice as much as that of river water.</p>
