Abstract
<p>To accurately study on-site water balance in the planning and design of building rainwater utilization systems, a calculation method that considers short-term rainfall variability, water supply load characteristics by building use, and appropriate water level control at the reservoir capacity is necessary. The objective of this study is to develop a rainwater harvesting system simulation tool practical applicable to various studies, for calculation water level fluctuations in water tanks rainwater rates and water substitution rates using time-specific rainfall amounts and time-specific water supply load fluctuations. In this report, we show the calculation method performed for each module. For the purpose of studying resource conservation in rainwater harvesting systems, we performed calculation examples and analyzed a case study using the proposed tool to demonstrate the various ways to which the tool can be utilized.</p>
