Abstract

Fujifilm Co., Ltd.(at that time Fuji Photo Film Co., Ltd.)was established in 1934 with its headquarters in Ashigara (Kanagawa Prefecture)aiming for domestic production of photographic films. In 1944, an optical glass factory was established in the Fujifilm Odawara factory, and in 1944, Fuji Photo Optical Co., Ltd. was established, then full-scale manufacture of optical products was started. In 1948, Fujifilm released the first 6 × 6 cm spring camera, Fujica Six 1A, and since then it was continued to offer many models including compact camera, single-lens reflex camera, medium format camera, etc. for a wide range of users, from family photography to professional fields. During that time, we opened up new ways to enjoy photography with the development of the lens-equipped film “QuickSnap” expanding the global photography market greatly, and the instant photo system “Fotorama” and “instax”, etc. In 1988, foreseeing the arrival of the future digital age early on, in the imaging field Fujifilm announced the full digital camera that records images with digital method for the first time in the world. Pioneering the rise of today’s digital cameras, Fujifilm continue to pursue new ways of enjoying photography and video nowadays.
