Abstract

In this study, we developed a stressor scale for nersery teachers at certified child centers and conducted a comparative analysis of nursery teachers in charge of the claases for infant and toddlers and the classes for three to five year olds at certified child centers. The results showed that the stress scores for “dissatisfaction with working conditions” and “difference in views on childcare” were significantly higher for nursery teachers in charge of the older classes than for those in charge of infant and toddlar classes. Hierarchical multiple regression analysis with work engagement as a dependent variable confirmed that the influence of instrumental support was significant in the infant and toddler classes as well as older classses. In addition, hierarchical multiple regression analysis with burnout as a dependent variable showed a considerable adjustment effect for instrumental support. Taken together, it was clarified that instrumental support is helpful for nursery teachers at certified child centers to conduct daily work.
