Abstract

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are self-organized with metal ions and organic ligands, and are expected to have a wide variety of applications due to their high structural designability. However, there are still few practical examples. The main reason is that structural stability cannot be guaranteed due to “structural deterioration due to moisture absorption” and “low mechanical strength.” In this study, we synthesized mm-sized large Cu3(btc)2 single crystals, and executed X-ray structural analysis and hardness estimation by nanoindentation method, before and after filling ionic liquid ([C4mim][Tf2N]). As a result, it was elucidated that both of these drawbacks can be improved by introducing [C4mim][Tf2N].
